Infrastructures for Information Acquires GriF S.A.

Infrastructures for Information (Toronto), a company which develops software architecture for computer-based information management, has acquired GriF S.A., a French software and publishing firm. GriF S.A. specializes in document management and editing applications based on SGML, XML/XSL and HTML standards. Its target markets include aerospace, automotive, academic and research institutions, hydroelectric utilities, and telecommunications. i4i's S4 developer tools and GriF's authoring and presentation software will be integrated to offer end-to-end solutions in the SGML/XML market. The deal represents "a major step towards its objective of establishing itself as one of the dominant players in the structured information market place," according to Michel Vulpe, i4i founder and CEO. "Adding S4 Technology to our existing capability in SGML/XML visual editing technology will give us a clear advantage in the European and Asian markets," said Gilles Marichal, project manager for the GriF development team.
