Important Insights Into Creating a People-Centric Workplace

Being people-centric isn’t a new concept, but KM and digital workplace tools that can make it a reality have advanced significantly in recent years.

Geoff Ables, managing partner, C5 Insight, discussed this concept during his KMWorld 2018 session, “Creating a People-Centric Digital Workplace.”

The 22nd KMWorld conference is co-located with Taxonomy Boot Camp 2018Enterprise Search & DiscoveryText Analytics Forum ’18, and Office 365 Symposium.

“We are at the fusion of a physical, digital, and biological digital revolution,” Ables said.

KM World 2019 will be held November 5-7, 2019 at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC, with pre-conference workshops on November 4.

Businesses need to understand their success and failures and not be afraid to learn from mistakes, Ables explained.

He offered up 4 insights into creating a people-centric digital workplace:

  • Listen
  • Understand
  • Create connections
  • Know results and always improve them

Listening to employees may sound easy but enterprises tend to put information into too many systems. It’s important to listen in more places and work on integrating, migrating, or eliminating systems of data storage that may be bogging down the workflow.

Create connections so that you can understand what’s going on to respond to a situation.

“Reinvent how you think about a process,” Ables said. “Change always starts with an individual, and rarely at the top.
