Imation and TeraStor develop new storage

Imation (Oakdale, MN, http://www.imation.com

) has signed an agreement with TeraStor (San Jose, http://www.terastor.com) for the development of media for a new class of rewritable mass storage. Products will be based on TeraStor's Near Field recording technology that creates a new category of multipurpose mass storage technology with hard disk and optical technologies. With user capacities of 20 GB, the products promise to offer a 10-fold capacity advantage and lower cost-per-gigabyte than current storage options. Introduction is scheduled for the first half of 1998.
