Imark and BackWeb Unveils Push EC System

A server-based, push "information commerce" solution is being developed developed by BackWeb (San Jose) and

Imark (Herndon, VA). A pilot version of Imark's Net-Max+, a push information commerce system for digital content, now includes BackWeb's Infocenter for automating the process of gathering and delivering knowledge. The service pushes subscription information as HTML pages or PDF format files; the information is then examined using a knowledge-based profiling agent, summarized and pushed along with the requested information. The accessing and purchasing of the documents is managed through the use of sophisticated key management and encryption technology. The combined solution "provides subscribers with relevant information, delivered directly to their desktops, with direct access and purchasing opportunities at their fingertips," said BackWeb CEO Eli Barkat.
