IXOS, 80-20 team up

IXOS Software and 80-20 have signed an agreement to work jointly on the next generation of the IXOS-ExchangeArchive product line. The partnership also covers joint product development and joint marketing for the 80-20 product line, which includes the retrieval server 80-20 Discovery and the personal portal 80-20 Retriever.

80-20 Discovery is able to arrange information according to concepts rather than keywords. 80-20 Retriever is a new personal portal embedded in Microsoft Outlook that uses automatic categorization technology and is designed to handle personal file and e-mail management.

Both companies are looking to provide integrated solutions for the new Microsoft Exchange platform and the forthcoming portal and document management server, code-named “Tahoe.”

IXOS is addressing the groupware market with its own innovative IXOS-ExchangeArchive solution. The latest version, launched in October, is built on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 platform and includes new features such as support for Web storage technology and direct integration into the Microsoft Management Console. The IXOS software migrates business process-related attachments either automatically (rules-based) or interactively for quicker retrieval and up to a claimed 90% reduced load on Exchange servers.
