ITI acquires Faulkner Information Services
Information Today, Inc. (ITI), KMWorld’s parent company, has announced the acquisition of the publishing assets of Faulkner Technical Reports, a diverse line of information products known as Faulkner Information Services. No terms of the deal have been announced, but a spokesperson for ITI describes the acquisition as a win-win arrangement.
Faulkner Information Services provides Web-based information in the fields of information technology, communications and security. Its flagship service is called the Faulkner Advisory on Computer and Communications Technologies (FACCTS), which is a continuously updated and searchable library of hundreds of research reports written for IT and communications managers, users and suppliers.
The Faulkner Information Services management team will continue to run the new ITI subsidiary at its present location in Pennsauken, NJ. Marty Murphy, the former Faulkner president and principle shareholder, has left to pursue other interests but retains a strong interest in the success of the company. “We purchased the business in 1993 and have greatly expanded the breadth and depth of the service offerings,” says Murphy. “I have every reason to believe that ITI will continue to improve the existing products and create new ones as opportunities arise. I also believe that ITI has the marketing channels that will help make Faulkner Information Services a dominant player in the information technology research arena.”
Tom Hogan, Sr., president and CEO of Information Today, Inc., says, “The wealth of content and the customer base that Faulkner has managed to attract and retain during difficult economic times are truly impressive. As a side note, Tom Hogan admitted that his first job in the information industry was in 1968 with Auerbach Info, Inc., a major part of which later became Faulkner Information Services. “I wish I could say that this was the culmination of some life-long dream or strategy to acquire the company that gave me my start in the information industry,” says Hogan, “but this was purely a serendipitous and fortunate turn of events. I am nonetheless pleased and excited about the possibilities we have inherited.”
