Hummingbird has something to sing about

Claiming its new release delivers on the promise of scalability, administrative capabilities, application integration and collaboration and an enhanced user interface design, Hummingbird has started shipping Version 4.0 of its enterprise information portal.

The company reports EIP 4.0 employs a new interface that allows users to easily build their personal pages to gain access to aggregated information as well as business applications. Hummingbird adds that the XML-based application interface enables what it calls “Application Collaboration” between Hummingbird EIP and the underlying applications and information sources. As an example of the collaboration feature, business intelligence users can now check reports into a document management system and employ sophisticated search and categorization capabilities, according to the company.

Hummingbird’s says its integrated set of applications and portal framework will deliver true user-centric computing. The company adds this offering lowers total cost of ownership by allowing significantly faster deployment times because the integration of different applications and information sources is considerably easier.
