Hummingbird Unveils Solution for Web-Based Document Management
A scanning application for enterprise intranets that converts paper documents to digital format has been unveiled by Hummingbird Communications (North York, Ontario). Using a TWAIN- or ISIS-compliant document scanner, the Common Ground Paper2Web converts paper documents to DigitalPaper, a portable, web-ready file format which preserves the document's original appearance. It can then be viewed through any Java-enabled browser. Paper2Web includes an OCR engine, and supports conversion of electronic images in addition to black and white, gray-scale and color documents.
