KnowledgeLead, a new knowledge relationship management tool from Cadenza has been engineered to identify employees’ core professional skills and foster collaboration.

The company claims KnowledgeLead differs from other KM tools because, rather than just capturing knowledge, it allows people to post information about their areas of expertise. Cadenza reports the effective power of KnowledgeLead is its ability to help employees locate their colleagues who possess relevant skills for a particular task or project. Further, the tool lets employees post information about their interests such as hobbies, personal affiliations, etc., allowing them to become acquainted and build communities of interest.

Components of KnowledgeLead include: MySpace, ExpertSpace, PeopleSpace, AskColleague, KnowledgeAgents, Subscriptions and ExpertSearch.

MySpace is the area on KnowledgeLead where information most important to the individual, as indicated by that individual, is presented in a single page. It is the starting point in the system every time a user logs on and can have links to information such as e-mail, calendars, to-do lists, daily news and subscribed ExpertSpaces and PeopleSpaces.

PeopleSpace is where individuals declare their experiences, education and interests to create their professional profiles. Here, individuals can search for experts by skills, department, name, etc.

ExpertSpace is where experts disseminate their knowledge to their colleagues. Individuals can post questions directly on the ExpertSpace of their choice in order to seek assistance from the KnowledgeGuides.

AskColleague is a community where individuals collaborate and help each other. The communities are organized by categories of subjects and interests.

KnowledgeAgents deliver information to individuals based on the topic of interest they specify either by subscription or by searching. Individuals can subscribe to ExpertSpaces (such as finance or engineering), PeopleSpaces (their colleagues’ professional home pages), categories (such as skills or education) and other postings available in the system.

System requirements include an enterprise-class server running Lotus Notes Domino R5.x, Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape Navigator 6.x. Pricing starts at $100 per user.
