HP slashes optical storage prices

Hewlett-Packard has lowered prices of the recently released 5.2 GB-based HP SureStore optical-storage product line "to lead the market in pricing and performance by delivering cost-effective" according to the manufacturer. The new price for the 1.2 TB jukebox has dropped from $101,894 to $87,680 and the entry-level 8x desktop storage system has been reduced from $3,894 to $2,995. "HP is demonstrating its leadership in the MO market by offering superior optical-storage solutions at competitive prices," said Bob Wilson, manager of HP's Optical Business Unit.
