Goldmine for government

Convera has developed a commercial search site specifically designed for government professionals. The beta version of govmine is based on the platform that has been deployed at numerous government agencies and, most recently, as a Web indexing solution for publishers, the company says.

Convera says the goal of govmine is to help government workers better accomplish their missions by enabling them to enter highly specific queries and presenting the results in a more relevant and comprehensive manner. Also, it says, recent market data suggests that more than 10 million government workers could benefit from an alternative type of search experience, one focused on professional search needs and less on consumer popularity. It believes govmine is especially well-suited to uncover the relationships between seemingly disparate data from across the Internet.

As part of the govmine initiative, Convera has also entered into strategic relationships with Rocketinfo and Quigo. Convera explains that Rocketinfo will offer real-time news based on search queries, and Quigo will provide the contextual advertising system for the site.

Convera emphasizes that it encourages feedback on the new offering.
