Get more out of your fax machine

Canon is unveiling new software to help its users get more out of a fax machine.

Canon's MultiSpot Document Distribution System transforms the fax into a networked multifunctional device -- scan, fax and print capabilities. Users can run a document through the fax and scan it to a workgroup or to their folder.

According to Canon, the software delivers ease of use to workgroups (an easy-to-use device that makes scanning as comfortable as a faxing) and a cost-savings to companies, by replacing three devices with one.

MultiSpot will be available as an add-on to the existing Canon Laser Class Fax machines, and built into new Canon faxes as an option labeled "MS Ready." A five-user license costs $595.
