FileNet offers free cost-benefit analysis

It Doesn't Cost To See If IT Pays

Deploying a silent salesman, FileNet

(Costa Mesa, CA, http://www.filenet.com) has partnered with Compaq (Houston, TX, http://www.compaq.com) to offer software that builds a business case for implementing workflow, imaging, document management and COLD solutions. The "FileNet and Compaq Advisor" software allows NT-based organizations to generate a suggested configuration and estimated cost-benefit analysis for FileNet solutions running on Compaq equipment.

"This new tool makes it easy to arrive at the bottom-line benefits of implementing document management technologies by quickly projecting a detailed five-year cost-benefit analysis," said Lee Roberts, president and COO of FileNet. "In developing this tool, we tapped the experience of the many FileNet customers who have consistently realized dramatic cost reductions and improvements in productivity by deploying document management software."

By answering a series of questions (number and type of documents received each day, number of users, amount of time spent filing and retrieving documents each day, and annual revenue or budget), the program estimates implementation costs as well as potential savings and estimated return on investment.

FileNet's ValueNet resellers welcome the added sales tool. "It's a nice piece of software," said Alexander Young, VP of the insurance division of Judge Imaging (Bala Cynwyd, PA, http://www.judge.com) and a former insurance company CFO himself. "Anybody looking to do imaging or workflow would find it helpful; it gives a quick snapshot."

Young intends to promote the software in his direct mail campaign. "I'd send them to this Web page," he said.
