Excalibur RetrievalWare chosen to sharpen archives
Excalibur Technologies reports that the Augusta Chronicle has selected it to provide the intelligent search functionality for its extensive electronic archive project. Under the agreement, The Augusta Chronicle will use Excalibur RetrievalWare to enable online readers to search across an archive of nearly one million pages of information, which is currently being converted from microfilm to an electronic form.
The oldest newspaper in the southern United States, The Augusta Chronicle has been in continuous publication since 1785. The company has microfilm archives dating back to 1786 and is currently in the process of converting the archives to an electronic format. Once complete, the archives will be fully text searchable and available to the public.
