Ernst & Young opts for NT

Ernst & Young (New York, http://www.ey.com

), one of the largest tax service providers in the United States, is implementing a 3,500-seat enterprise document management solution for its tax practice. Based on PC Docs (Burlington, MA, http://www.pcdocs.com) and Microsoft (Redmond, WA, http://www.microsoft.com) technology, the solution is already available to 20% of the expected users. When fully implemented, it will be one of the largest NT-based distributed imaging and document management solutions in the world.

The Electronic Compliance File (ECF) solution is based on PC Docs' document management products, Microsoft BackOffice technology, including Windows NT and Microsoft SQL Server, and Tempest Server technology from Diamond Head (Richardson, TX, http://www.dhs.com).

The ECF system will replace the current paper-based tax return preparation system that contains enormous hard-copy volumes that are sometimes shipped between locations as required by tax professionals in various areas of specialization. Integrated Computer Management (ICM), a New Jersey-based systems integrator, was instrumental in implementing the ECF system at Ernst & Young.
