Enterprise ESP

Tacit Knowledge Systems has released its new Expertise Services Platform (ESP), what is described as a complete foundation for enterprise software vendors to incorporate automatic expertise discovery, capture and search into their applications and to reuse information already present in their applications to profile expertise.

Tacit claims ESP unlocks new capabilities for information routing, dynamic process management, change management and collaboration in a wide range of applications, and it can rapidly be integrated using a comprehensive set of XML-based APIs.

Tacit explains that like its KnowledgeMail, ESP automatically and continuously discovers and captures expertise by analyzing electronic content from diverse sources such as e-mail, document management systems, electronic discussion boards and file systems. Tacit ESP can also use application data to supplement users' expertise profiles.

Tacit ESP supports expertise search based on keywords, Boolean expressions and example text, the company says, adding that searches can be manually triggered or fully automated. Applications can further refine searches by blending with external taxonomy systems.
