Enhancing the essence of Essbase

Essbase, Hyperion’s multidimensional calculation engine, now supports Java-stored procedures. The company says this feature allows increased automation of administrative and system management functions, as well as enhanced integration with relational databases.

Hyperion further adds that the addition of Java-based custom-defined functions significantly extends the Hyperion Essbase calculation engine and allows Hyperion customers to centralize their unique business logic and key performance indicators, providing consistency throughout enterprise analysis. And, it says, as a company learns from its own analysis, the custom defined functions enable them to leverage their intellectual capital, thereby improving the analysis environment for all users in the enterprise.

In addition to supporting custom-defined functions, Essbase now provides tighter integration with relational data sources, and incorporates new features that improve performance and scalability as well as simplify administrative tasks.
