Enhanced community building

The third generation of Communispace’s namesake software is designed to help corporate communities connect people to people, as well as to documents. The goal of the software, according to Communispace, is to achieve specific business objectives regardless of geographic, time and organizational boundaries.

Communispace reports its users engage in a wide variety of activities including brainstorming, sharing ideas, building consensus, learning and capturing insights and actions. And, the company claims, the software is designed and facilitated by experts who understand how people perform these activities. Communispace captures metrics around the “health” of the community and says these “climate” measures help facilitators guide the community to meeting its objectives.

The company adds that Version 3.0’s new “microcommunities” capability enables an organization to coordinate membership, activities and information sharing across multiple communities. Users can share and re-use information and thereby provide the right information to the right audience at the right time, Communispace says. With microcommunities, smaller groups can organize into subgroups or teams to focus on specific issues. They can then share the resulting content with the larger community or with other communities within the organization.
