Ending search and navigation woes?

Endeca has released Version 4.0 of its search and navigation software. The company says Endeca ProFind 4.0 will benefit from enhancements including expanded enterprise security and content integration, Asian language support, enhanced full-text search capabilities and a redesigned Developer Studio tool. ProFind 4.0 also offers “Content Spotlighting," which calls out relevant and related information in response to user queries.

Endeca says ProFind has been enhanced in the following key areas:

Expanded enterprise security integration. V 4.0 builds uponexisting security capabilities by adding native integration with Access Control Lists from multiple sources. During the content acquisition process, Endeca simply tags documents with the appropriate security attributes from the underlying repository.

New multibyte language support. ProFind 4.0 is now based entirely on Unicode, providing search and navigation support for over 250 languages, including new support for Japanese and Chinese.

Faster ROI and lower total cost of ownership. The new version features an enhanced Developer Studio that will allow customers to develop and deploy information retrieval applications faster, shortening time to ROI. The enhanced Studio will also enable lower IT maintenance and user support costs, lowering total cost of ownership.

Expanded content support. V 4.0 includes new enterprise content adapters for ODBC, Lotus Notes and XSLT that extend the existing rich support for enterprise applications, content management systems and databases. Also, ProFind 4.0 introduces a new search technique that addresses multiword queries -- without the high setup and maintenance costs of traditional natural language approaches.
