Elasticsearch for SharePoint from BA Insight

BA Insight has launched Elasticsearch for SharePoint. Out of the box, the software integrates with SharePoint and allows Elasticsearch to be accessed through SharePoint portals without reliance on custom software development. Further, BA Insight’s complete software portfolio is now available for the open source Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana (ELK) stack. BA Insight says that for organizations using SharePoint, this capability adds real-time search and analytics that are not possible with native SharePoint while saving time and money on the development of portals to access Elasticsearch applications.

This integration deepens the partnership between BA Insight and Elastic, the company behind the ELK stack. Elastic customers can now easily surface their applications in corporate portals. The integration also adds a wide range of capabilities to Elasticsearch, including:

• connectors to more than 50 systems, including item-level security;
• auto-classification to power better facets and join with relevant, automatically generated metadata;
• federation to mash up queries and results and present them cleanly in SharePoint using a powerful federation framework; and
• applications, including Smart Previews, Visual Refiners and Matter Comparison.

BA Insight says customers now have the flexibility to use the search engine within SharePoint or Elasticsearch—or combine the results from both into a single result set.
