Documentum and Microsoft ink agreement

Microsoft and Documentum will be combining efforts to offer business solutions to the process and discrete manufacturing, financial services, utilities and telecommunications markets. Documentum's Docbase document repository will be offered as a solution with the Windows NT server. On the Web, Docbase will be promoted with Microsoft's Site Server and Internet Information Server (IIS) to combine content integrity with content delivery. The expanded alliance will involve joint advertising and marketing, executive strategy meetings, participation in new product early adopter programs, industry-focused seminars, cross-training of field personnel, benchmark studies and joint participation in trade shows. Documentum president and CEO Jeff Miller notes that NT is his company's fastest growing platform in terms of shipments, and he expects the BackOffice platform to contribute significantly in the future. "This is a reflection of the market adoption of both Documentum and Microsoft innovative technology and solutions," he said. Customers "look to Microsoft for technology leadership and strategic relationships with enterprise application providers such as Documentum," added Steve Ballmer, executive VP of sales and support for Microsoft's worldwide business strategy group.
