Documentum adds records management

Documentum has completed its all-cash acquisition of privately held TrueArc for $3.6 million. As a result of the deal, Documentum now offers Records Manager, formerly known as TrueArc ForeMost Enterprise.

Documentum says its new offering delivers a robust records management and e-mail archive infrastructure, allowing organizations to capture and manage electronic and paper records, as well as e-mail, throughout the enterprise. The product is certified as compliant with the recently revised U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 standard for electronic record-keeping systems. Records Manager provides an out-of-box integration with the Documentum ECM platform, as well as with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server and other systems.

With the completion of the TrueArc acquisition, Documentum claims to be the only vendor to provide a comprehensive set of ECM capabilities in a single, fully integrated platform--from content creation and capture, through management, collaboration, delivery, retention, archival and destruction.
