DataChannel Unveils Intranet Management Tool

A new version of its flagship intranet management product has been unveiled by DataChannel (Bellevue, WA). New features in ChannelManager Version 2.0 Beta include the addition of multiple clients, E-mail notification, an open API, a "What's New" channel that provides a history of news updates across all channels, and a 30-minute server install. It offers an XML framework to help companies build enterprise-wide intranets in which to integrate legacy databases, document management systems, newsfeeds, E-mail, PC applications, and URL links to intranet or Internet sites. "The capability of DataChannel's flexible user authentication system allows it to meld to any organization's style hierarchical, flat, matrix or functional," said Roger Fairchild, VP of Internet Business Development at

Wall Data (Kirkland, WA), whose CyberPrise product line utilizes ChannelManager technology. ChannelManager Version 2.0 Beta is currently being deployed in the government, manufacturing and financial sectors. It supports Microsoft NT Server and the IIS Web server, and is available for free download from DataChannel's Web site.
