Data visualization drives Toyota's product development

Toyota Motor Company expects to streamline its development process and reduce product development time and costs by better accessing and sharing product information.

Using product visualization technology from Engineering Animation, Toyota engineers will be able to access product drawings, specifications, work instructions and other data and associated documents. Workers in the product review process will be able to mark up drawings and other documents and share them with others.

Integrating a common visual environment into the product creation process will considerably simplify the engineers' collaboration process and enhance concurrent engineering practices, according to Yoshikazu Amano, GM of Toyota's Information Systems Development Division.
