Crafter Software expands WEM suite

Crafter Software has launched two new modules to its Web content and experience management suite. The company reports Crafter Profile and Crafter Social empower business and IT users with the features necessary for adding user interactivity and social engagement to next-generation enterprise websites and mobile apps. Both modules are open source, Java-based solutions. Crafter Social is integrated with Crafter Profile.

Crafter Profile allows site developers to easily add user login and user profile management to website applications, says the company. The module enables Web developers to create secure login features and gather user profile information for use in targeting and personalization. This module also provides user login via social media channels, so users can access company Web properties using their Facebook, Twitter and/or other social network credentials, thus offering greater convenience for consumers while giving marketers access to social information. Crafter Social enables website developers to add social engagement features to website applications, including comments, ratings, discussion forums, blogs, wikis and more.

Crafter Profile is built on MongoDB for extensibility and scalability and includes a multi-tenant profile attribute store, an admin console for user profile management and chained authentication with any existing authentication services including Active Directory, TAM, Crowd and Open Social. In addition, Crafter Profile can easily extend existing profiles without interfering with core repositories.

Also built on MongoDB, Crafter Social offers a highly scalable, multi-tenant social content repository that can support any type of user-generated content (UGC). Hierarchical structures are supported as well as fine-grained permissions. There is an admin console for management and moderation as well as out of the box models for common UGC, such as threaded comments, ratings, blogs and discussion forums.

Crafter Software’s solutions are offered as both a Community Edition under the GNU General Public License and as an Enterprise Edition with a commercial license and global support.
