Computer Associates unwraps ERwin Examiner

Computer Associates (CA) has released ERwin Examiner Version 1.0, software that identifies data design problems of e-business systems. By pinpointing problems, the company says, ERwin Examiner accelerates time-to-market, improves quality and helps data modelers and DBAs become more effective in their design decisions.

ERwin Examiner works with ERwin, CA’s data modeling product; both are part of the company’s application life cycle management software, Advantage, which is designed to provide a foundation for building, deploying and managing e-business applications.

ERwin Examiner is said to accelerate database design and deployment by improving the consistency and quality of data across an company’s information architecture. The software analyzes data models to identify inconsistencies that adversely affect database integrity and efficiency.

CA identifies the key features of ERwin Examiner:

• comprehensive diagnostics and reporting,

• automatically improved database design,

• the ability to isolate design discrepancies and

• a “teach me” capability.

The software is available immediately at $2,000 per seat.
