Complimentary compliance

80-20 Software has released Compliance Server, a free add-on for Microsoft SharePoint designed to manage the retention life cycle of electronic documents and e-mails.

Says 80-20 CTO David Gillespie, "This product’s underlying technology is extraordinarily powerful, designed for full scale deployments in large enterprises. As part of 80-20 Software’s patented suite of document life cycle technologies, the components bundled as part of 80-20 Compliance Server represent more than 50 man-years of research and development."

80-20 is offering both the beta and final versions of Compliance Server at no cost, a move the company believes will attract customers to its array of well-respected solutions. "We are giving away software to companies that are using SharePoint that would normally cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars,” says Mark Ross, CEO of 80-20 Software. “We expect to recover our investment in Compliance Server through increased market awareness of 80-20 Software and subsequent sales of our Leaders Online solution in which the compliance server is a component."

Customers can download the beta software at no charge here. The final release will be available for free download in October 2005.

Founded in 1997, 80-20 Software develops enterprise governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) solutions designed to improve the quality, accuracy and timeliness of information available to senior management teams and boards. The company's suite of solutions includes tools for board information management, regulatory compliance management and financial controls management.
