Catching up with content categorization
With the introduction of its new software, Semio makes the content categorization information generated by Tagger accessible to other programs for easier integration with online content solutions and business portals.
Tagger 4.1 extracts key concepts from a wide variety of document sources to build customized content categories. These categories may be integrated in a variety of online applications, including content navigation and personalization in portals. With Semio Tagger 4.1, Semio offers a comprehensive and open interface to the results obtained through its patented categorization processes. This interface will support future partnership integration efforts through published interfaces and toolkits.
According to Paul Bradshaw, Semio’s VP of research and development, "Semio Tagger already supports XML-based output for product integration purposes. We've extended the product integration capabilities by storing categorization information in an industry-standard relational database as well, so other applications can access this information easily."
Semio Tagger 4.1, Semio Taxonomy Viewer 4.1 and Semio Map Viewer 4.1 are currently available on Sun Solaris 2.7 and above, Windows NT and Windows 2000 platforms.
In other news, Sequoia and Semio have established a joint strategy for integrating the Semio taxonomy functionality within Sequoia's XPS. The integration provides customers with Semio taxonomies within the XPS portal environment and the ability to leverage Semio content within XPS business processes.
