Canon Adds New Large Format Printing Systems

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a provider of digital imaging solutions, has launched the new Océ PlotWave 345 and Océ PlotWave 365 large format printing systems. The new offerings from Canon are suited for small and medium workgroups that rely on high quality documents in their workflow, while helping to save time and energy costs.

These systems were developed for users who require on-demand print, copy, and scan functionality, with minimal system interaction and a high level of ease-of-use, according to Toyo Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. These users need systems that can easily be placed and integrated into their workgroup but also address the increasing mandate for advanced security features and hardening such as electronic file shredding, IPsec, a removable hard disk, and disc encryption.

According to Canon, the new systems can be used to retrieve files from the cloud using a smartphone or computer, or send a print request to the printer via Océ Publisher Mobile. The new Océ PlotWave models make it possible to print from and scan to a folder on a user's workstation with LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) integration.

In addition, the large 10.4-inch Océ ClearConnect color touchscreen interface is designed to operate like a tablet or smartphone.

To help safeguard intellectual property and associated documents, the new Océ PlotWave 345/365 systems offer options to make the printing environment more secure. They provide secure login or smart card support to prevent prints from remaining on the printer where unauthorized people could potentially retrieve information. Confidential information is further protected with a Windows 8 embedded platform and the Océ POWERsync controller, supporting security features.

Canon says the Océ PlotWave 345/365 systems also meet the needs of the professional CAD environment for high quality technical documents. Océ Image Logic technology enables scans on the first attempt without relying on conventional trial and error threshold management.

The new Océ PlotWave Systems are now available and will be sold through Canon Solutions America and its authorized dealers.
