Caere, Onset join recognition and fax routing

In a neat example of one technology helping another, Caere and Onset Technology are partnering to bring faxes to PC users' desktops via E-mail.

Onset is integrating optical character recognition (OCR) technology from Caere's OCR Developer's Kit into its ThruFax product, which identifies fax addresses and sends them as E-mail to users' PCs. Caere's OCR technology will simplify the process of finding and identifying addresses, names and aliases, so the fax can be routed to the correct person.

"Caere's OCR is fast, accurate, and particularly well suited for our needs -- to use it in ThruFax was an easy decision," said Onset CEO Gadi Mazor, noting that Caere was an early customer of ThruFax.
