Business Intelligence Alliance formed

A group of business intelligence and data warehousing leaders has formed an alliance combining their expertise to provide education, consulting, mentoring, on-site resource expertise, and project management. The pooled resources also allow the individual consultants to compete more effectively with larger systems integrators and professional services firms.

Launched at the DCI Data Warehouse Summit in Atlanta, the BI Alliance (bialliance.com) has already begun providing services to Allegheny Power, Western Health Advantage, and RPS. "Their ability to assist clients in getting a project going quickly and to provide all of the resources and experience these projects demand are of significant value," said Jeff McBain of RPS.According to Doug Hackney President, Enterprise Group, (www.egltd.com) and one of the alliance's founding members, the group differs from vendor-sponsored alliances as it is intended to combine the individual strengths of its members, rather than establish industry standards. "The alliance does not endorse products," he said.

In fact, the BIA is only open to members who are principals of their own company, not employees of BI vendors. "We're not oriented toward driving market-share," he said.

BIA member services include: assessments of data warehouse requirements; mentoring of project managers; project planning; data mining; project planning; design review; and decision support."When a client signs on with any one of our members, he or she is immediately privy to a comprehensive network of business-intelligence professionals," said Hackney.

English has developed the Total Quality data Management (TQdM) program applying TQM principles to data quality improvement and he chairs Information Quality Conferences worldwide.David Foote, Managing Partner, Cromwell Foote Partners, (www.cromwellfoote.com) and a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal and various technology publications.
