Building knowledge

Entopia has released its new Knowledge Builder software, which the company says is designed to to enable users to easily migrate electronic content to the knowledgebase. Entopia describes Knowledge Builder as a taxonomy discovery and content classification tool that further facilitates collaboration and improves the location of expertise, documents and sources of existing enterprise legacy content.

Knowledge Builder is tightly coupled with Entopia Quantum to facilitate a smooth and speedy integration of legacy content by generating a taxonomy and semantic metadata from source documents and integrating them into Quantum, where they are immediately searchable and part of the collaboration space, Entopia adds.

Knowledge Builder analyzes the source documents to extract key concepts, which are matched against the semantic DNA associated with existing topics in the knowledgebase in order to automatically generate a target or suggested taxonomy. This target taxonomy is flexible and may be customized in several ways to meet the customer's needs. Entopia adds that the Knowledge Builder also features built-in analytical reporting tool to help understand the created taxonomy.

Once the taxonomy has been established, it and the classified content migrate automatically into Entopia Quantum. During this process, all documents are indexed by the Entopia Quantum Semantic Engine, which creates metadata about not only the content, but also about the creators of the documents, to allow for dynamic expertise profiles.

Once the initial migration is complete, users are able to maintain the new taxonomy by using Entopia Quantum's Smart Classify function, which recommends where to classify and store a new document based on its semantic similarity with other documents.

Entopia is marketing the Knowledge Builder as part of a suite of solutions for one-time or ongoing use. It is a combination of software from Lightspeed Software and Entopia.
