Blending KM with BI

Knowledge Management Software (KMS) and Business Objects have formed a partnership that will enable users to access and analyze their structured and unstructured data quickly and effectively via a portal.

The companies say most BI applications only give non-technical users access to structured company data that has been generated by business applications, whereas the combined solution will allow users to draw on all the knowledge that is stored throughout businesses, not just the information that resides in databases.

Business Objects’ products include BusinessObjects 2000, an integrated business intelligence toolset and platform, and BusinessObjects Analytics, a suite of enterprise analytic applications.

KMS software can be deployed as a complete knowledge management solution or embedded into other applications, including customer contact centers, customer relationship management systems, e-learning modules, corporate intranets, enterprise information/knowledge portals and Web portals.
