Birst and PPL Work Together to Provide Cloud-Based Analytics on Music Rights and Licensing

Birst, an Infor company and a provider of cloud business intelligence (BI) and analytics for the Enterprise, and music licensing company PPL (Phonographic Performance Ltd) are working together to implement Birst’s cloud-based networked business analytics platform.

Using Birst, PPL will roll out increased levels of on-demand analytics to users across the business, based on a new centralised data model.

Prior to implementing Birst, business users’ access to analytics was limited by the volume and complex nature of PPL’s data, held across multiple systems.

Analytics was delivered through several solutions, with frequent duplication of data and the need to often reconcile statistics across solutions.

The Insight & Innovation team at PPL decided on Birst as the most appropriate solution for deploying analytics that could bring together multiple sources of data into solutions that can be used by multiple people across the business, on demand.

The implementation at PPL combines Birst with Amazon Redshift, a cloud-based data warehouse service that can host large volumes of data. With this combination, PPL can bring together many sources of data to centrally analyse with Birst, while benefiting from the value and scalability of cloud-based storage.
