Calling it the most significant release in SAS’ 28-year history, SAS9 is said to be faster, more efficient and easier to use than its predecessors. The new platform connects all SAS applications and communicates with other data sources and programs, the company reports. The new offering includes the SAS Intelligence Platform, a set of integrated software for data integration, business reporting and analytics, as well as enhanced integration optimization and predictive analytics capabilities.

The company goes on to say that SAS9 analytics are part of an integrated, highly scalable platform that includes capabilities such as predictive and descriptive modeling, forecasting, simulation, optimization and design of experiments. SAS adds that new in this release are Java interfaces for Enterprise Miner and Text Miner, which are integrated with one another, that allow organizations to analyze both structured data and unstructured text more easily.
