Baan Unveils ERP Products

Baan (Reston, VA) has taken the wraps off a new line of ERP products. The BaanSeries line includes two new products, BaanERP and DEM-SE, which are the end result of a $100 million R&D effort. BaanERP allows users to graphically define supply chain operations, and to automatically configure the applications based on real-world business models. Features include an Extended Enterprise suite, redesigned Sales Order and Field Service applications, and a new approach to global operations for integrating traditional ERP localizations into generic applications. It also includes new multi-site architecture links to the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler (DEM) component, which offers enriched graphical navigation, advanced business rules/models and enhanced workflow capabilities to help tie core business processes across the entire system. "With traditional ERP, technology restrictions have always superseded business requirements," said company founder and CEO Jan Baan. The new line of ERP products "puts business needs first and guarantees that the various technological parts will work well together." The BaanSeries line is now available in beta, and will be released to a short list of users in April. General availability is slated for June.
