Canto has developed a new product designed to build complete workflow solutions spanning creative, production and distribution processes around digital assets. Additionally, vertical market solutions built on the new offering, CanFlow, and Cumulus, Canto's digital asset management product, and other third-party products will be released. Initial solutions will target the corporate, government, education and medical sectors, the company reports.

Canto explains that CanFlow is based on an open source workflow technology that includes a GUI-based workflow builder and an engine that manages the instances of XML-created workflow templates. The workflow engine uses MySQL as its database. The CanFlow-based solutions will ship with pre-configured workflow templates, and Canto claims consultants and system integrators will be able to easily configure templates to specific customer needs.
