Autonomy opens technology vault, offers SDK

Autonomy has added a Software Developers Kit to its product line in an effort to license its core categorization technology to other software vendors.

Autonomy software is designed to identify the main ideas in any document and automate several text-based functions. The SDK is particularly geared at adding the ability to analyze and extract main ideas from text in applications including enterprise portal, document management and ERP tools.

"Software developers need their applications to deliver actionable information to the appropriate people," said Mike Lynch, Autonomy CEO. "By licensing our technology, vendors can differentiate themselves by quickly connecting people with the information they need."

Companies licensing Autonomy software at the time of the announcement include Verge and Aenied.
