An enterprising offering

AskMe has unveiled AskMe Enterprise 6.7, which is said to incorporates best practices garnered from customer to enable what it calls employee knowledge networks (EKNs).

The company explains that EKNs locate both documented knowledge and undocumented knowledge and expertise across large organizations that are divided by geographic, functional and divisional boundaries. The software then facilitates collaboration between employees and captures all exchanges, helping the work force to make faster and more informed decisions, avoid redundancy and reduce project cycle times.

New features include:

  • enhanced federated search capabilities and out-of-the box integration with Microsoft Index Server;

  • a “flattened” view of multilevel branches in a company's taxonomy, which is said to simplify the process of finding experts and information throughout multiple stages of deployment while maintaining the explicit structure necessary to categorize the content;

  • an "open answer" feature that allows any user within the system to provide answers to questions without formally opting into the EKN or being assigned as an expert.

  • the ability to deliver “listener summary e-mails” to employees;

  • an ROI engine; and

  • the ability for users to provide comments within knowledge exchanges and articles.
