ASP KM

Addressing the growing costs of acquiring, maintaining and managing system hardware, operating systems, and applications software Cuadra Associates now offers its knowledge management software through an application service provider (ASP) model.

The markets that Cuadra plans to serve first are archives, libraries, museums, publishers, records centers and other organizations that have important collections of hard-copy or electronic material--including images--that require effective control and accountability, together with fast, precise retrieval. The company explains that several different service levels will be offered, so that customers in organizations of all sizes can benefit from the ASP services model.

The Cuadra STAR ASP Service will allow for both public and "back-room" operations over the Internet, with either secure login or public access. All private data passing to and from the service will be encrypted, says Cuadra, for the protection of the customer's data. Customers will manage their data and authorize access to internal staff and the community of users it serves, while Cuadra ASP service manages the system.
