A new vehicle for supply chain planning

Thru-Put, a division of Mapics, has announced the release of Thru-Put Manufacturing 5.1, the e-business edition of the company's planning and scheduling and supply chain management solution.

The new release offers Internet capabilities that enable manufacturers to share information with customers and suppliers throughout their supply chains. For example, suppliers can gain access to short and long term material requirements based on the production plan and enables customers to access the Capable-to-Promise (CTP) functionality.

All supply chain Web inquiries can be personalized and customized by users via Thru-Put's “reporting wizard.” The new Web-enabled Customer Service Workbench enriches the solution's CTP functionality by empowering manufacturers to explore various what-if scenarios with purchased material availability. The integration bridge has been streamlined to enable quick data mapping, allowing a manufacturer's data to be moved directly from its ERP system to Thru-Put without resorting to flat files.

Thru-Put added a profitable-to-promise functionality, which enables manufacturers to analyze in real-time the margins on an order and to evaluate the profitability of accepting that order. By helping manufacturers better understand how customer orders use constrained and surplus resources, PTP enables better asset utilization and allocation.
