A merger with a mission

Sopheon has announced that it has begun to integrate Orbital’s Organik expertise-sharing software, which powers KMWorld’s Knowledge Community, into its business process and information management solutions. The union of the two companies will result in technology that will enable access to both documented information and human expertise, whether internal or external to an organization, within a single solution.

Orbital's Organik software will operate as a module of Sopheon's Accolade new product development suite. Organik will also be placed inside Sopheon's desktop research portals, matching new inquiries with previously asked questions and their answers, as well as providing pointers to internal and external experts with relevant knowledge to speed and strengthen decision-making and problem-solving, Sopheon will also support, maintain and enhance Organik as a standalone offering.

Sopheon reports that both it and Orbital have pursued strategies aimed at helping R&D-intensive businesses improve the efficiency and success rates of knowledge-intensive work processes. Sopheon has moved aggressively to take advantage of the technical and marketing synergies between the two companies and has completed the merging of the product development and sales organizations.
