UPMC streamlines document processes

To help meet its goal of a more integrated shared services program, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has contracted with Océ Business Services to implement document process management services.

Océ is providing commercial printing, forms, and mail and business management services. Part of the agreement involves deploying a solution that integrates Océ Automated Tracking Services (ATS) with Océ MAX business performance management software. The system enables users to track millions of inbound and outbound mail annually.

“This initiative supports UPMC’s vision to better integrate and provide technical innovation across a range of business processes, including commercial print, print center, courier and mail services, multifunctional machines, print management and records management,” says James Szilagy, UPMC’s chief supply chain officer. “The future belongs to organizations that leverage information technology for increased agility, flexibility and innovation. That’s our goal for this collaboration.”

The solution is expected to streamline document operations, shorten cycle times and reduce costs, according to Océ. UPMC consists of 19 hospitals, 400 outpatient sites and doctors' offices, and retirement and long-term care facilities; it employs 43,000.
