Smoother auto insurance interactions

An online auto insurance company is using a data integration platform to help power its real-time quoting and purchasing service. Processing as many as two million records each day, Insurance.com has selected Informatica PowerCenter to enable a wide range of interactions with customers.

"[The solution] will allow us to use real-time business intelligence to drive and enrich the customer experience, leading to better informed consumer decisions, higher response rates and increased sales," says Joe Singleton, IT director at Insurance.com. "PowerCenter offers the robust foundation and performance we need to instantaneously move, aggregate and process customer-generated data in order to provide more productive online interactions." He also singled out the solution's real-time performance, high-quality data transformations, speed of development and manageability.

Insurance.com had been gathering a huge amount of Web site data for business intelligence and reporting, but not in real time. With the new system, the company can capture the 100 to 150 data elements generated by each customer as he or she goes through the quote process and integrate that information in real time into an active data warehouse where it can be used for more meaningful online interactions. Data administrators can leverage the technology to monitor how data is being moved and transformed, as well as take action to avoid processing bottlenecks.

Insurance.com anticipates that the deployment will result immediately in a five percent to 10 percent increase in its sales conversion rate, according to a press release from Informatica.
