Power company generates info exchange

Alstom Power do Brasil is using collaboration software to link people together, despite their physical distance, and to facilitate project and document management.

The company has deployed Sitescape Forum throughout its Hydro Systems division, including facilities and employees of several hydroelectric power plants in Latin America to which it supplies turbines, generators and control systems.

“We were looking for a centralized intranet-based solution that would allow us to access information even at the plants’ construction sites,” says Enzo Maimone, head of Project Management for Alstom Power. “Our current solution required us to install a software client and lacked a powerful search engine. Forum offers a comprehensive and intuitive solution that will help us establish an easily accessible knowledgebase, and link the division.”

The company is using SiteScape Forum to control its engineering processes, which include storing, routing and sharing documents, CAD drawings and agendas for hydroelectric power plant projects.

The company plans to implement Forum across departments, and will use it as its main document management and workflow platform in ISO 9001 certification.

A sector of the global energy producer Alstom, the company provides services related to power generating equipment, transmission and distribution equipment for electric energy, transportation systems and equipment, power conversion, shipbuilding, electrical and technical installations and services, and systems integration.
