Improving editorial search

The editorial staff of U.S. News & World Report will benefit from a new enterprise search platform that will improve and optimize search engine resources. The news organization has chosen Vivisimo Velocity to help staff better find, access, explore and manipulate content, easing their ability to conduct research and meet deadlines.

"As a major news organization with over 2 million readers each week, we need to maximize the information and tools available to us to provide the best analysis of today's stories," says Jill Konieczko, director of information and research services at U.S. News & World Reports. "When seeking an enterprise search provider to help us find and research stories, we wanted to work with a company that could provide quality search results from a variety of different sources and enable us to get our editorial staff up and running with the platform immediately."

The solution will index and federate original content, third-party resources and news feeds used by U.S. News & World Report editors and reporters, according to Vivisimo. Those resources include such tools as EBSCO, ProQuest, Lexis Nexis and RSS feeds. The search platform's clustering feature categorizes search results dynamically into topical folders that help users quickly review and recall relevant themes.
