IMC upgrades its capture installation

To meet the mounting demands of its government and commercial markets customers, Information Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) has integrated Kofax's advanced automatic document separation technology into its existing Kofax solution.

"We’ve seen increased demand from some of our larger customers--one with more than 350,000 to 400,000 human resources documents to be processed each month--and identified a critical need for the automatic document separation technology to complement our existing Kofax deployment," says Mike Taylor, IMC program manager. "Now, not only are we able to keep up with demand, but we have done so without causing fluctuations in production staffing levels--all while maximizing efficiency."

IMC is a service bureau that transforms data into accessible, useful knowledge for its customers. Its previous deployment of Kofax software allowed it to capture electronic information and extract handwritten and machine-printed data sent by its customers. It has expanded that installation to integrate Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange, which includes the automatic document separation technology that eliminates the need to insert separator sheets.

According to a recent news release from Kofax, IMC looked into several options when seeking a solution that would recognize zones of formatted pages to extract specific data to populate index fields.

"Kofax's technology not only performed the required zone recognition, but it also provided the additional benefit of being able to recognize and automatically separate different types of forms," says Chip Watkins, IMC's VP of conversion technologies.
