Fleet reports fleetly

To provide quicker access to business transaction information, PHH Arval has implemented a business intelligence solution from Brio Technology.

A subsidiary of Cendant Corp., PHH Arval is a vehicle management company, which, in conjunction with a joint venture partner in Europe, manages more than 1 million vehicles worldwide. The company provides integrated leasing, management and card payment solutions to corporate, government and service-related fleets.

PHH Arval managers must develop reports containing information that is vital for viewing, tracking and conducting cost analysis on the vehicle fleets. They cover such areas as acquisition, maintenance and fuel card transactions. Because of the huge volume of data generated--often millions of rows of transactions, the reports used to take hours to complete. And managers wanted to be able to publish those reports in a variety of formats for different recipients. Consequently, the IT department had to reformat the same data multiples time to generate Web and paper-based reports.

With the new system, which consists of Brio Portal and Brio Report, thousands of managers in North America have instant access to the information they need and can easily generate reports in a variety of formats. Write-once, publish-anywhere capabilities allow Web and paper-based reporting for efficient information sharing enterprisewide, according to a recent announcement from Brio.

Report generation time has been reduced from hours to minutes, according to Brio, enabling managers “to make smarter, faster decisions and increase overall business performance.” The new system is said to have reduced costs and optimized revenue opportunities for PHH Arval.

According to Tim Talbot, VP of technology at PHH, the company chose the system because of its scalability and flexibility.
