Enhanced higher learning

To create a more dynamically connected community and eliminate various information silos, the University of Utah has adopted a Web initiative for both its internal and external sites.

The university is deploying Vignette's Web Experience Platform to power its Web sites, which range from personalized student portals to collaborative platforms for brain research, according to a press release from Vignette. The solution enables faculty and administrative content contributors to create, manage and deliver vast amounts of information for the whole university community. The content also can be customized to address various segments of the community, such as students, parents, faculty and donors.

"We are creating an online community valuable to everyone, from a world-class neurosurgeon to an incoming freshman," says Paula Millington, director of media solutions at the University of Utah. "The solution provides us the tools to aggregate and serve campuswide Web applications, content and digital assets in a way that more deeply connects everyone."
