BPM: a strong foundation for growth

A large car dealership in Mumbai, India, has deployed an open source business process management (BPM) solution to automate workflow and to help handle the company’s growth.

Lakozy Toyota is using Colosa’s ProcessMaker software--an AJAX-enabled, service-oriented architecture (SOA), Web-based application. The dealership wanted to automate its business processes, which were paper-based and time-consuming. Colosa partner Bista Solutions demonstrated the BPM solution to Lakozy’s management team, who decided to implement it.

Amar Pawar, COO for the dealership, says, “From working with Toyota Japan, I have a good knowledge and understanding of business process management. I knew that Lakozy Toyota needed a solution that was easy to use, painless to implement and that would automate everyday processes, increase transparency and reduce reliance on paper-based trails and processes.”

Pawar further says that Bista worked with Lakozy to deconstruct and understand the processes behind its business, to implement the first phases of ProcessMaker and to draw a roadmap for future support of additional business processes.

Lakozy has automated a number of departments and processes so far, including human resources, admin, sales and accounts. ProcessMaker is also being used to send notifications to sales and service managers for urgent processes requiring approval. The dealership now plans to expand modeling and automation to include all core processes.

Sanjay Mishra, assistant general manager of Lakozy Toyota, says, “Our business is strong and growing, so we needed a solution that could capture our existing processes as well as provide us with a strong foundation for growth. It’s important that companies understand the value that business process management can bring in terms of clarity of processes, efficiency and reducing the volume of paperwork.
